Producer Mark Burnett said Thursday he is pitching a series to television networks that would be about Alaska seen through the eyes of its most famous resident, Sarah Palin.

Though video postings of her recent performances in Australia have been less than flattering, Whitney Houston says her tour is going great — and she's in great health.
A statement released Thursday by Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, says: "Whitney is in great health and having a terrific time on her tour and with her fans."
The statement notes there were thousands of people dancing and signing along at her concerts this week and says the singer "appreciates their support."

Leif (LAFE) Garrett has pleaded not guilty in a felony drug possession case in Los Angeles.
The plea came Wednesday during the arraignment of the musician and former teen heartthrob.
Defense attorney Andrew Flier said authorities illegally searched Garrett before he was arrested Feb. 1 for investigation of carrying heroin in the city subway system.
Flier says Garrett disputes the contention that he was nervous and sweating profusely, which prompted his search and arrest.

The war story "The Hurt Locker" and the recession tale "Up in the Air" have won top honors at the Writers Guild of America Awards.
"The Hurt Locker" won Saturday for best original screenplay for writer Mark Boal. "Up in the Air," based on Walter Kirn's novel, earned the adapted-screenplay award for writer-director Jason Reitman and co-writer Sheldon Turner.
